Day 5 - Slightly scary library convert

Caution - clip contains swearing:

And a more gentle poem to finish the week:

Going to the Libraryby Jessy Randall
In the library there are pathways
you follow to find out what you want to know --
imagine -- somewhere in all these books
or on the face of the computer or in parentheses
at the back of a magazine, there is
the perfect sentence, the answer to your question,
the words all around you like

Day 4 - Thrills at the library Christmas party

See what librarians get up to in their spare time:

And today's poem:Because of Libraries We Can Say These Things
by Naomi Shihab Nye
She is holding the book close to her body,
carrying it home on the cracked sidewalk,
down the tangled hill.
If a dog runs at her again, she will use the book as a shield.
She looked hard among the long lines
of books to find this one.
When they start talking about money,
when the day contains such long and hot places,
she will go inside.

Financial support for next year

Are you applying for a course next year? As you may be aware EMA is winding down and anyone starting a new course in September 2012 will not be able to claim.

However there is still good financial support for you through various bursary and learner support funds - the 16-19 Bursary Scheme and the Adult Discretionary Learner Support Fund. Our Finance Team is now taking names and addresses for people applying for courses next year, to send out an application pack.

And today's poem, by Emily Dickinson:

To meet an antique book,
In just the dress his century wore;
A privilege, I think, His venerable hand to take,
And warming in our own,

Day 2 - Celebrating libaries with Cookie Monster

Another personal favourite of mine - Cookie Monster visits the library.

Scroll down for the acrostic poem of the day.

Large are these houses where one find,
Industries of the human mind:
Bound and amassed in paper banks,
Rough, smooth and some of highest ranks;
And there are stored the treasures old,
Rare, rare and precious fruits of gold:
Indited by the quills of men,
