Urban Triathlon for London 2012 Open Weekend

Sports students and staff from City College Norwich will be joining the London 2012 Open Weekend celebrations with a fun urban triathlon for members of the public to take part in.  The event will be held outside Chapelfield Shopping Centre this Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th July, from 9.30am to 4.00pm.

City College Norwich ended the college year by celebrating the contribution of its staff to supporting student success with its inaugural Inspiring Success staff awards.  The awards event, held at St Andrews House on Friday, highlighted staff who have made an outstanding contribution towards the college's strategic objectives.

Plumbing Award for City College Norwich Student

City College Norwich plumbing student Michael Nock was one of four students to be presented with an award by the Norfolk Branch of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE) on 14th July.  The annual awards are for students who, in the opinion of their tutors, have made "outstanding achievements in plumbing studies" and recognise exceptional talent in their chosen profession.

National Awards Recognition for College Principal and Students' Union

National Awards Recognition for College Principal and Students' Union

City College Norwich staff and students were celebrating this week after attending two national awards ceremonies; the LSIS Leading the Learner Voice Awards and the National Union of Students (NUS) Annual Awards.  Principal, Dick Palmer, was named Principal of the Year at the LSIS Awards and the College’s Students’ Union was announced as runner up in the Further Education Union of the Year category at the NUS Awards.

College is Recognised for its Research

College is Recognised for its Research

City College Norwich has been recognised as a Research-Engaged College by the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER).  The college, which has its own Research Centre, is one of just seven schools and colleges in the country to have been awarded this status.

Huckerby Makes it an Extra Special Celebration

Norwich City legend Darren Huckerby was the guest of honour at the End of Year Celebration for the School of Foundation Studies, helping to make this year’s celebration of student achievement  extra special.

The event at Chapelfield Methodist Church on Friday 9th July saw 270 students presented with certificates by Darren Huckerby to mark their successes over the last year.  The awards mark students’ attendance and completion of their courses, as well as their achievements in extra-curricular activities.

Students’ Garden Makeover for Day Centre

Students from City College Norwich have been getting their hands dirty to provide a local day centre with a garden makeover.  Staff and people who use Norwich Day Services, which supports adults with learning difficulties, will this week hold an event to mark the completion of the project and thank the college students for their efforts.

Stefan makes his way from the deli counter to China

A trainee department store buyer from Norwich is heading off to Shanghai, China, as he continues his progression from deli counter assistant towards becoming an international buyer.  The opportunity arose for Stefan Young, who is taking a Business Management degree, after he successfully applied for the Study China programme.

Young Web Designers in WorldSkills UK Final

Young Web Designers in WorldSkills UK Final

Two computing students from City College Norwich are pitting their web design skills against the best in the country as they take part in the final of the WorldSkills UK Web Design competition.  The final is being held over two days in Milton Keynes, on the 1st and 2nd of July. 

Marcus Craske, 16, and Suzanne Fairhurst, 20, both from Norwich, were selected for the WorldSkills UK final following a qualifying competition in which they had to apply their web design knowledge and skills to create an entertainment web site that would appeal to young people.
