City College Norwich actress storms the Edinburgh Fringe

An ex-CCN Creative Arts student will stage her latest play at a New York theatre after it won a prestigious award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Eloise Secker, 21, starred in the Pants on Fire theatre company's production of Metamorphoses at the Pleasance King Dome in Edinburgh.

She hoped it would bring in a small audience, but, to her amazement, it received rave reviews in national papers on both sides of the Atlantic and went on to won the Carol Tambor Best of Edinburgh Award.

A rising culinary star will be graduating with first class honours from City College Norwich’s renowned Hotel School, just a few weeks after being named Student of the Year.  Ben Keeley, who completed a BA honours degree in Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism, has his sights set on becoming a top chef and is a name to watch for the future.

Mary Portas master classes coming to Norwich

BBC TV’s Queen of Shops, Mary Portas, is the inspiration behind a series of retail master classes designed to equip the Davids of retail with the tools needed to stay strong amongst the high street Goliaths.

With the BBC receiving over 6,500 applications from independent retailers desperate to feature on the current series of ‘Mary Queen of Shops’, independent retailers have the chance to give their shops the Mary Portas treatment through a series of master classes she has designed and which are coming to Norwich during September and October.

Bronze Medal for Marcus in WorldSkills UK Web Design Final

City College Norwich computing student Marcus Craske has been awarded the bronze medal in the national final of the WorldSkills UK Web Design competition.  Fellow City College Norwich student Suzanne Fairhurst also impressed the judges, as she was highly commended for her web design skills in the 10 hour competition held over two days in Milton Keynes.

Students Celebrate Record-Equalling A Level Results

City College Norwich’s Sixth Form Centre students are celebrating after achieving an excellent set of A level exam results, matching last year’s best-ever pass rate of 97 per cent.   

There were fourteen A2 subjects in which 95 per cent or more of students achieved grades A*-E.  One hundred per cent passes were achieved in A2 Drama and Theatre Studies, English Literature, Film Studies, Mathematics, Media and Physics.

If you have applied for a course at City College Norwich you should come into college for interview during our enrolment period, which commences week beginning 23 August (all applicants will be sent a letter with details of when they should come in).
