Awards Celebrate Inspirational College Staff
City College Norwich ended the college year by celebrating the contribution of its staff to supporting student success with its inaugural Inspiring Success staff awards. The awards event, held at St Andrews House on Friday, highlighted staff who have made an outstanding contribution towards the college's strategic objectives.
Sports Lecturer Adam Williams was given the 21st Century Students award for his inspirational commitment and enthusiasm for his Outdoor Adventure students and sports activities that are offered to all students across college. Highly commended in this category were Carolyn Fitzgerald (International Students' Adviser) and Charlie Thompson (Enrichment Co-ordinator).
The 21st Century Staff award went to the Sports Department, who provide an exceptional programme of activities to Sports students and the wider college community, as well as innovative activities such as the Extreme Sports Therapy Unit and the new Football Development Centre. Highly commended were Barbara Abrahams (Programme Manager, Hotel School), Jacky Sturman (Principalship Office manager) and the First Point team.
The winner of the 21st Century Skills award was Danusia Latosinksi who has been at the heart of developing the college’s award-winning provision for students with Asperger’s Syndrome, as well as being an integral part of the nationally-recognised Project Search initiative. Highly commended in this category were the college library's Learning Resource Advisers and Vicki Bennett (Employer Partnerships Systems Administrator).
IT Solutions Manager Peter Ayre was awarded the 21st Century Systems/Sites award, for his work in developing systems that have transformed the way the college works, such as its electronic Individual Learning Plan (e-ILP) and the PAL Pad system used by the college’s Promoting Achievement in Learning team. Highly commended in this category were Diana Bowie (Records Co-ordinator) and the Print Room team.
The winners of the 21st Century Stakeholders award were Janette Brown and Rachel Hogg, Project Officer and Conference Co-ordinator for the National Skills Academy for Financial Services, who have played a key role in developing and maintaining the college’s strong links with the local financial services and wider business community. Highly commended in this category were the Prince's Trust team of Matt Applegate and Emma Roberts, and Natalie Halsall (Travel Plan Co-ordinator).
For his outstanding contribution to college life and commitment to student success, Nigel Whiteley, Lecturer in the Hotel School, was awarded the Principal’s Award.

The Inspiring Success awards recognise and celebrate all that our staff do to support this success in a wide variety of teaching and other roles. Our ambition is to become an outstanding college in the top 10 in the country and we have the staff here to make this vision a reality".
