College shortlisted for TES employer engagement award

City College Norwich has been shortlisted for one of the inaugural Times Education Supplement (TES) Further Education awards for its apprenticeship work with insurance firm AXA.

The college has been shortlisted in the Employer Engagement category, in recognition of its highly successful delivery of a range of training programmes to AXA’s staff in locations throughout the UK.

This successful partnership has seen the College support the delivery of 120 apprenticeships in Retail Financial Services, as well as a further 30 Contact Centre, Management and Customer Service apprenticeships.

The training has been well received by AXA staff and the company has benefitted from increased employee satisfaction and reduced staff turnover since the training was introduced.

Dick Palmer, Principal, City College Norwich, said: “It is a real honour for the College to have been shortlisted for a TES award in the employer engagement category.  Working closely with employers to develop training that really meets their business needs is central to our work and I am delighted that our partnership with AXA has received this recognition.”

Gerard Kelly, editor of The TES, said: “The TES FE Awards are an opportunity to recognise the dedication and expertise of staff in FE who transform the lives of learners. These nominees represent some of the best of this amazing and dynamic sector.”

The TES Further Education awards are the successor to the Learning and Skills Improvement Service’s prestigious STAR Awards, and the service continues as their sponsor.

A judging panel will select the winners, which will be revealed at a ceremony on 11 November in London.
