Entrepreneurs’ praise for the StartUp Lounge

Gazelle entrepreneurs Priya Lakhani, founder of Masala Masala and SOCO, and Ben Ramsden, founder of Pants to Poverty, were full of praise for the StartUp Lounge after experiencing City College Norwich’s inspiring new facility for developing students’ entrepreneurial skills. 

Speaking at the official launch of the StartUp Lounge on Friday 3rd February, Ms Lakhani, who left behind a career in law to become an entrepreneur and set up fresh Indian sauce company Masala Masala, said:

Students and entrepreneurs celebrate StartUp Lounge opening

The StartUp Lounge, City College Norwich’s ground-breaking new facility for teaching enterprise and entrepreneurship skills, was officially opened with a day-long celebration of student enterprise on Friday 3rd February.

Gazelle entrepreneurs Priya Lakhani, founder of Masala Masala and SOCO, and Ben Ramsden, founder of Pants to Poverty, alongside City College Norwich Principal Dick Palmer, joined over 100 students from City College Norwich and partner schools and colleges in a hive of enterprising activity that brought a buzz of excitement to the StartUp Lounge.

Students’ 2-day takeover of Holiday Inn hotel

Eighty hospitality and catering students from City College Norwich rose to the challenge of running a busy hotel this week, covering all of the roles, including General Manager, as part of the annual “hotel takeover” of the Holiday Inn Norwich-North.

Over Tuesday 31st January and Wednesday 1st February, the students performed all of the key roles and responsibilities associated with running one of Norwich’s largest 4 star hotels, from reception duties to housekeeping, bar management, and food preparation and service.
