Hannah's Superb Second at National Amateur Championships

Show jumping student Hannah Vincent put in an excellent performance at the National Amateur Championships at Aintree, narrowly missing out on first place in the main class of the show.

Despite the arctic conditions across the whole of the UK, Hannah made the six hour trip to Liverpool for The National Amateur & Veterans Championships 2010, hosted by Aintree International Equestrian Centre, from 25th – 28th November.

The Amateur Championships had 1,189 entries jumping over the four days of competition, with over 200 competitors from as far afield as Cornwall and Scotland.  Hannah went with high hopes of doing well with ‘Jabberwocky’ in the main class of the show, The Liverpool Volkswagen 1.05m Amateur VW Golf Car Challenge class.

Two days of successful qualifying classes for the pair, with only the top 60 competitors going forward to the final on Saturday, gave Hannah and her talented young horse a chance to compete for this coveted prize.

Hannah and Jabberwocky were on top form, narrowly missing first place but taking a superb second place, winning a £1,200 jumping saddle together with £120 in prize money.  Hannah was delighted with the result, although she would have loved to have taken the top honours and the prize of a VW Golf for a year.

Hannah also had a very successful show with her ‘pocket rocket’ the Phantom Dreamaker who, although only a pony, did exceptionally well in taking 2nd  place in the Warm Up Speed Class and also 5th place in The Cat and Mouse Pairs Challenge Class.

In recognition of her sporting achievements Hannah Vincent is a City College Norwich Ambassador.  The College is providing sponsorship and support for Hannah in her quest to make at as a professional show jumper and hopefully one day compete for Team GB in the Olympic Games.
