We have courses which can help you get the skills and qualifications you need to help you get the job you want. A new government funded ‘Work Focused Training’ package has been set up to open up fresh opportunities for job seekers throughout the county and will provide access to fully funded courses through City College Norwich.
If you have been unemployed and receiving job seekers allowance for 6 months or longer then we have a range of short courses especially for you. These vocational courses will give you the opportunity to enhance your current skills, learn new skills to help with your search for employment or provide you with new skills with which to pursue a different career path.

What will I learn?
Courses currently running at the College are in the fields of Hospitality and Retail, two sectors where there are real employment opportunities in the labour market. Courses are part time, so won’t affect your benefits and each course is accredited meaning you will gain a real qualification. These are only the first two areas identified as having real opportunities in the current job market. New courses will be tailored to the specific sectors in order to re-train job seekers with skills that they will use every day in their new jobs.

What happens next?
Once you enter the workplace you will be encouraged to continue your studies through the College with a wide range of NVQ opportunities and further study available. Once you complete the course we will help you to find a position that is right for you. We work closely with Job centre Plus speaking to employers helping them to fill job vacancies with the right people with the right skills.
