More Lotus Staff Achieve Award-Winning Qualification

Thirty staff at Lotus are the latest employees to achieve the award-winning Business Improvement Techniques NVQ, developed in conjunction with City College Norwich and the National Skills Academy for Manufacturing.

The Level 2 training course in Business Improvement Techniques for Lotus Cars employees was launched in 2007.  In 2008 Lotus, City College Norwich and the National Skills Academy for Manufacturing won a prestigious National Training Award in recognition of this innovative and successful partnership.

City College Norwich assisted Lotus in the design of the training rollout programme.  The College also monitors the quality assurance processes and procedures and obtained “Awarding Body NVQ A1 Assessor” accreditation for the Lotus trainers.

The National Skills Academy for Manufacturing trained a team of Lotus staff to deliver the NVQ in Business Improvement Techniques. The NVQ programme is the benchmark qualification for manufacturing in the UK.

Presenting the certificates at the Lotus Headquarters in Hethel, Norfolk, Michael Och, Director of Operations for Lotus said, “Change affects everyone. In today’s business environment, we all have to learn how to improve our performance to meet the huge challenges that our industry faces.

“It is a huge testament to the ambition and ability of our staff that so many are keen to complete such a worthwhile qualification to contribute to the raising of standards within Lotus which is so crucial to the success of our business.”

So far, over 140 Lotus employees have achieved the City & Guilds Business Improvement Techniques NVQ qualification, which focuses on six core subjects: Health & Safety Law, Continuous Improvement, Workplace Organisation, Visual Management, Team Working and Problem Solving. A further 136 Lotus employees are nearing completion of their training.
