CONTEMPORARY JEWELLERY MAKING

This is a ‘hands on’ course, conducted in a relaxed and informal environment.  At the end of the course, you will have experimented with basic metalwork techniques including soldering, piercing and filing, as well as having explored a range of other media and materials including paper, textiles and casting techniques to create jewellery.

The aim of the course is to familiarise students with each method, enabling them to continue at home if they wish.  The course is suitable for both the beginner and those who have already had some craft experience and is designed for those over 16 years of age.

Jewellery making does not need to be restricted to precious metals; items can be made from a variety of media to create your own individual designs. Step by step guidance will show you how to use a variety of resources and materials, to produce one-off creative pieces of jewellery.

The course starts on Wednesday 1st February 2012 and runs for seven weeks between 6.30pm and 8.30pm on Wednesday evenings.  There are no entry requirements, you just need to be keen to create unique pieces of contemporary jewellery ... and there's no tests and no exams.  Just come along, join in and let your creativity flow.
