Sports students and staff from City College Norwich will be joining the London 2012 Open Weekend celebrations with a fun urban triathlon for members of the public to take part in. The event will be held outside Chapelfield Shopping Centre this Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th July, from 9.30am to 4.00pm.
Members of the public will be invited to have a go at cycling, rowing and kayaking, using Watt bikes, concept II machines and ergo machines. The main emphasis of the event is on taking part, having fun and finding out about new activities for a healthier and more active lifestyle.
Participants will also have the opportunity to have their Body Mass Index (BMI) measured, take a body fat test and undergo a general fitness check, conducted by City College Norwich gym instructors.
Open Weekend is a series of exciting sporting, arts and cultural challenges taking place across the UK from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 July 2010. With the fresh theme of ‘challenge yourself’, organisations are setting public challenges at their events – allowing everyone across the UK to set a new personal best by trying something new or by taking an existing interest to the next level.
Dick Palmer, Principal, City College Norwich said: “City College Norwich is proud to be supporting the Open Weekend with our Urban Triathlon. Our sports students and staff are looking forward to giving people the chance to try their hand at activities they might not have tried before and to take up the challenge of leading a healthier and more active lifestyle.”
